Is it Wednesday yet?? I'm ready! Such a sweet/sad story about your grandmother. It is always a gift to have a special relationship with a grandmother. For some reason this song from Iris Dement and her mother came to mind after reading your story, thinking of her at the piano.
Hey Jay! Thanks for the lovely comment and the link to "Higher Ground." You are absolutely right. That song reminds me of my grandmother. Also, for years, I couldn't listen to "Mama's Opery" without crying and thinking of my mother. I sang it for her one time, and when I looked up, she was crying. I could barely get through the song.
C.S. Lewis! One of my favorite non-Christian/Christian writers. He was always loathe to bring out that cloying Christian "love everyone" stuff. After all, he was born in Belfast, the almost-cradle of Christian hate & supremacy. He did much better in England...
Loved your article this week! Jon [now living in Oak Park, Il!]
Thank you, Oak Park Jon! Shall I call you O.P. Jon from now on? I want to read more of C. S. Lewis' work. I loved this quote because I could feel the struggle he went through with religion, with God, and his own pain in trying to understand the enormous loss of his wife.
This reminds me of something that happened to me every year. Why did I start to feel so sad right around the Fourth of July? It was something my body knew, although I certainly didn’t.
Then a few years ago I remembered that my father died on July 6.
Thank you for sharing that, Connie. It must happen to so many of us. I get sad starting in October and it usually lasts until after the first of the year. If I look at my losses, most of them happened during that time.
What a beautiful and reflective post. I resonate with this so tenderly. I’m not sure we’re ever “through” or “done” with grief and loss from a loved one as loving as your Grandmother sounds. A favorite songwriter of mine, Stephen Wilson Jr., says, “grief is only love that’s got no place to go.” Maybe give it Sundays😘
Thank you, Jennifer. I'll have to check out Stephen Wilson, Jr. That's a beautiful line. I'm hoping now that I understand, Sundays will be easier. Maybe I can transform those Sunday blues into something more hopeful, or at least give the happier memories space to surface.

I too had a wonderful grandmother. May he memory be a blessing.
Thank you, Vicki. I love the stories of your grandmother, and I know Josie will have wonderful memories of you. You are a fabulous grandmother!
Great quote about Grief. And grief takes as long as it takes. Doesn't matter how many years it has been.
My favorite grief quote: "Joy surprises and Grief ambushes!"
Love this quote! What a difference in how we experience the two emotions!
What a sweet, heart touching story. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you, Ani. And, also, thanks for becoming a paid subscriber today! I appreciate it so much.
You guys are family now.

Great post today. You and Stu will love Stephen Wilson, Jr. He’s an excellent songwriter and a heck of a guitar player.
Just checked out Stephen. Amazing lyrics and singer. I liked him very much.
Thanks, Kristi! Looking forward to checking out his music.
